What the Principal Says About MICS

Now that the 21st century has already passed more than 20 years, if possible, it is time to create opportunities for our children to receive an international school education in this global era and compete on equal footing on the international stage. However, regional, cultural, and economic realities were not very favorable for carrying out this work, and a vague fear of change seemed to paralyze the thinking of most people. Yet, God, who prepared Squanto for the Puritans, has given a beautiful gift—the Mokpo International Christian School—to this land of Mokpo, where martyrs and giants of faith prayed until their deaths.

With a pioneering attitude willing to take risks and make sacrifices for a good goal, parents, the church, and teachers have come together in unity under the sacrificial leadership of Founder Rev. Kim Sang-sun to open Mokpo International Christian School. By accepting this gift with faith and putting the biblical view of education into practice, so that our children, who will literally live in the global era, may correctly understand the meaning of God's love and the fear of God, thoroughly build their character and develop their skills in Christ, and become prepared workers.

We aim to become a foundation of education where anyone who desires can come to know Christ, learn to fear God, and receive thorough training.

Welcome to Mokpo International Christian School, the very first international Christian School in Mokpo. Mokpo is a beautiful and blessed city. It has a very deep root in Christianity and is a home to many well-known Christian leaders in Korea and worldwide. It's not uncommon to hear many talk about 'global village' and express their desire to get ready for this rapid changing era. The reality, however, is much different from the desirable outcomes. Mokpo is not an exception. Political and cultural barriers as well as financial hardship are some of many reasons why most parents have been hesitant to even think about the alternative educational choices. Now it's time for we Mokporians to step up for our children that they can benefit from our act of faith and obedience in the Lord. Thanks to Rev. Sangsun Kim for his dedicated leadership and the extraordinary parents who were willing to risk great things by faith in order to train their children according to God's way. Some of them have received much criticism even scorn from close friends, family members, or colleagues who were unable to see the vision and couldn't share the same insights that our parents have. The MICS maiden voyage is well on its way with our chief captain, Jesus Christ. Now we would like to welcome you aboard.

• October 2009: Preparatory committee members visit domestic international schools and begin preparations for establishment

• March 2010, groundbreaking ceremony for Pyeong-an Vision Hall

• October 2010: Completion of Vision Hall, opening of MICS After-school Program International Language Institute

• Joined US ACTS in February 2011. Began promoting MICS.

• July 2011 International Language Institute Summer Program

• Liberty University (LUOA) online academy course opened in October 2011

• December 2011: Mrs. Bolan appointed as Elementary School Director

• Appointment of Oh Won-ok as Director of Planning Office in January 2012

• January 2012 Staff Prayer Meeting & 1st Admissions Information Session

• 2nd Admissions Information Session in February 2012
